New Member Benefit Offers Discounts On Propane
A new benefit program will provide discount rates and premium service for Grange members and halls that use propane gas. Master Bob McFarland negotiated the state-wide program with AmeriGas, a national provider of propane.
“Grange members will be able to purchase propane for much less than competitors’ rates,” commented McFarland.
The per gallon cost will be tied to a fixed margin over the local posted Market Index Rate, resulting in savings of 7 – 38% based on a recent survey of competitors.
“In the Placerville area, for example, the local market rate today is $1.78 making Grange Halls and members’ rate $1.78 + $0.84 (margin) = $2.62 per gallon…when everyone else is paying from $3.25 - $3.50 per gallon,” stated John Lewis of AmeriGas. AmeriGas further discounts the rate for the first tank filled.
“I made myself the Guinea pig for this program,” said McFarland. “By switching over to AmeriGas, I saved close to $250 on my first tank of gas.”
In addition to the discounted rate, AmeriGas is offering other special incentives, such as free tank rental for the first year, and free system checks.
To sign up for the program, call John Lewis of AmeriGas at (530) 313-3779. Tell him you are with the Grange. AmeriGas will verify your membership with the State Grange office.
