Ryan Hughes CalFire Jarbo Gap Station 36. The hills were alive with the smells of chili at this year's Yankee Hill Grange Chili Cook-Off. There were 10 entries of some of the best chili around this year.
Last year's winner, Ryan Hughes, Cal Fire Jarbo Gap Station 36, again won first place in the inside cookers. A very close second place went to Lou & Lisa Hocevar, who also won the best decorated table.
Don Saul took home first place for those cooking with fresh ingredients outside.
The judges, Butte County Deputy Sheriff Jay Freeman, Butte Pomona President & Oroville City Councilwoman Cheri Bunker and Yankee Hill Granger Don Dooling had a tough time choosing the best concoction. "They were all great tasting and the scoring was very close," said Bunker.
The People's Choice award also went to Ryan Hughes.
