State Grange Will Host Youth Conference
SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA, July 15, 2008 --- The California State Grange will host the 2008 National Grange Western Regional Youth Conference July 25 – 27 at the Orangevale Grange Hall at 5807 Walnut Avenue.
The conference kicks-off Friday night at 6:00pm with a welcome dinner and celebration of the 120th anniversary of the Junior Grange, for ages 5 – 14.
The three-day conference will provide a variety of fun activities and workshops for youth from three Western States including Idaho, Oregon and California. The conference will conclude on Sunday.
Workshops will teach youth about the legislative process, how to promote a Grange, and leadership. Activities will include fun and games and a trip to Sutter’s Fort to experience living history.
The semi-final competition for the National Grange Sign-A-Song and Speech contests will be held at the conference. Winners will go on to represent the region in National competition.
On hand to lend support and guidance will be Youth and Young Adult Director Charlene Shupp Espenshade and Junior Grange Director Anne Kurburski from the National Grange in Washington D. C.
California State Grange Youth President Joseph Stefenoni, Youth Director Ed Komski, and Junior Grange Director Suzanne Moramarco will welcome conference guests. The California State Grange has 10,000 members in 185 communities across the state.
Everyone is welcome to attend the National Grange Western Regional Youth Conference. A fee of $75 covers registration, meals and the field trip to Sutter’s Fort.
